Mumbai: The makers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ released the promo of Sanjeeda Shaikh’s character as Waheeda. The newly released video gives the audience a deeper insight into the mysterious and charming character of Waheeda.
The character of Waheeda played by Sanjeeda is shown as a woman of unique beauty and divine voice. However, her life takes a tragic turn when she experiences an incident that leaves her scarred for life. With her exquisite looks, beautiful dance moves and proficiency in Urdu, Sanjeeda fits seamlessly into the world of the magnum opus of ‘Heeramandi’.
In the promo of the series, Sanjeeda is shown wearing a black embroidered lehenga.
She is seen saying, “My voice was unmatched, my beauty was also unmatched. Every mirror longed for a glimpse of Waheeda. But I did not know that even a single mark would stain my destiny forever.”

Sanjeeda, who was seen in ‘Fighter’ earlier this year, is now going to play an important role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’.
The series takes the audience to the 1940s, giving a glimpse into the lives of prostitutes filled with love, betrayal, power and the struggle for freedom.
Along with Sanjeeda, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sharmin Sehgal are in lead roles in the series.
‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ will premiere on Netflix on May 1.
