Lucknow: On the occasion of International Workers’ Day, a significant meeting was organised at the state office of the Rashtriya Lok Dal in Lucknow to deliberate on pressing issues concerning workers.
The meeting was attended by the party’s National General Secretary (Organisation) Trilok Tyagi as the chief guest, while State President of the Labour Cell Mahesh Pal Dhangar presided over the session. A large number of party office-bearers, workers, and labour representatives from across the state participated in the discussion.
Focus on Child Labour, Wages, and Workers’ Rights
The meeting saw detailed discussions on several critical issues affecting labourers, including eradication of child labour, effective implementation of minimum wages, and safeguarding the social and economic rights of workers. Ensuring a dignified standard of living for labourers also remained a key point of deliberation.
Participants unanimously resolved to launch widespread awareness campaigns on these issues and intensify their efforts, including protests if required, to ensure workers’ rights are protected.
Call for Strong Action Against Child Labour
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Trilok Tyagi described child labour as a serious social concern that adversely impacts the nation’s future. He stressed that children should be in schools rather than engaged in labour and urged the government to take stringent measures and formulate an effective action plan to eliminate the practice.
He also emphasised the need for strict enforcement of minimum wage laws, noting that many workers are still deprived of fair compensation. He called for greater accountability from the administration to prevent exploitation and ensure justice for labourers.

Tribute to Chaudhary Charan Singh
Tyagi also paid tribute to Chaudhary Charan Singh, recalling his contributions toward safeguarding the interests of farmers and workers through landmark policies and legislation. He reiterated that the Rashtriya Lok Dal remains committed to carrying forward his ideals.
Key Demands Raised
Speakers at the event urged the government to expand social security schemes for workers in the unorganised sector, improve access to healthcare and education, and create more employment opportunities.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mahesh Pal Dhangar, who reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to continuously advocate for workers’ welfare and rights.
Several senior leaders and party functionaries, including Anil Dubey, Anupam Mishra, Rohit Agarwal, Ambuj Patel, Aman Pandey, Ramawati Tiwari, Preeti Srivastava, and others, were present at the event.
