Riyan Parag plays a blistering spell on Wankhede turf

Mumbai: The losing streak of five-time champions Mumbai Indians continues in IPL 2024. In the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 played at the Wankhede Stadium, Rajasthan defeated Mumbai Indians by six wickets with 27 balls remaining.

Riyan Parag played a brilliant half-century in a match dominated by bowlers. He finished the match with two sixes and a four off Gerald Coetzee and gave Rajasthan Royals their third win. With this, Rajasthan has reached the top in the points table of IPL 2024 with six points.

Trent Boult and Chahal broke Mumbai’s pride

Parag hit five fours and three sixes in his innings of 54 runs and made a 40-run partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin for the fourth wicket to give Rajasthan Royals victory after a poor start. However, the foundation of the victory was laid by their bowlers – Trent Boult (3-22) and Yuzvendra Chahal (3-11). He helped restrict Mumbai Indians to 125/9 in 20 overs. After this, due to the excellent batting of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan easily achieved the target of 126 runs.

Captain Hardik was already being trolled fiercely due to two consecutive defeats. Now Mumbai’s defeat at home ground Wankhede has opened their wounds. Sanju Samson and Company defeated Mumbai badly by 6 wickets in this match. Earlier, captain Sanju Samson decided to win the toss and field first. Due to tight bowling, Rajasthan limited Mumbai to 125 runs. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets each for Rajasthan. Apart from this, Nandre Berger took 2 wickets in his name.

Rajasthan, while chasing the target of 126 runs, did not have a good start. After the fall of 48/3 wickets, Riyan Parag made an unbroken 40-run partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin for the fourth wicket to give victory to Rajasthan. Parag remained unbeaten after scoring 54 runs. With this win, the team reached the top of the IPL table with six points. This is the third win of Rajasthan Royals in three matches. They also became the second team after KKR to win a match away from home in IPL 2024.
