Punjab Kings fail to sail past the RCB storm

Bengaluru: In the sixth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by four wickets. The match played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was very interesting. RCB needed 46 runs to win the match and six wickets had fallen. In such a situation, Dinesh Karthik along with impact player Mahipalal Lomror helped the team win by four wickets with four balls remaining.

RCB, while chasing the target of 177 runs given by Punjab, did not have a good start. The wickets of captain Faf Duplessis (3 runs), Cameron Green (3 runs) and Glenn Maxwell (3 runs) fell early. However, Virat Kohli kept scoring runs from the other end. Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar (18 runs) and Anuj Rawat (11) provided some support to Kohli. Then Kohli also got out after scoring 77 runs. After his departure, RCB needed 47 runs in 22 balls to win.

Following suit, Dinesh Karthik and impact player Mahipal Lomror, who came on the field, batted strongly and scored 48 runs in 18 balls and led the team to victory. Karthik scored 28 runs in 10 balls and Lomror scored 17 runs in 8 balls. Kagiso Rabada and Harpreet Brar got two successes each for Punjab. While Sam Curran and Harshal Patel got one wicket each.

Earlier batting after losing the toss, Punjab Kings scored 176 runs in 20 overs. For Punjab, captain Shikhar Dhawan contributed 45 runs, Prabhsimran Singh contributed 25 runs, Jitesh Sharma contributed 27 runs and Sam Curran contributed 23 runs.

In the last over, Shashank Singh scored 20 runs and took the score to 176. Shashank scored 21 runs in 8 balls. Mohd for RCB. Siraj and Glenn Maxwell took two wickets each. While Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph got one success each.
