New Delhi: Taxpayers can now use multiple digital payment options to pay their direct taxes following the integration of IDFC FIRST Bank’s payment gateway with the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
The integration enables taxpayers across India to make direct tax payments through UPI, credit cards, debit cards and internet banking, providing greater flexibility in choosing a payment method.

Shirish Bhandari, Head–Retail Liabilities, Cards and Payments at IDFC FIRST Bank, said the facility would allow taxpayers to make tax payments conveniently and securely through their preferred payment mode.
Taxpayers can make payments through the bank’s retail and corporate internet banking platforms, as well as through UPI and cards. Customers opting for offline payment can visit any IDFC FIRST Bank branch and pay through cheque, demand draft or cash. Customers of other banks can also use their respective internet banking facilities to make payments through the IDFC FIRST Bank gateway.

After completing a transaction, taxpayers can download the challan and payment confirmation, making it easier to maintain records of tax payments.
To make a payment, taxpayers need to log in to the Income Tax e-Filing portal, generate the relevant challan, select the ‘Payment Gateway’ option, choose IDFC FIRST Bank and complete the transaction using UPI, card or internet banking.
