Lucknow: Minister of State for Excise (Independent Charge) of Uttar Pradesh, Nitin Agarwal said that people should not consume liquor in the open at liquor shops which do not have a license to serve liquor. Strict compliance of this should be ensured. He said that liquor should not be served to persons below 21 years of age in bars and clubs. For this, continuous checking should be done. It should also be ensured that liquor shops and bars should not be opened after the stipulated time. Action against violation of rules should also continue. The Excise Minister has given these instructions to the officials during the departmental review.
Nitin Agarwal was reviewing the work of the Excise Department at the Sugarcane Institute. He said that in the current financial year, a revenue target of Rs 58,310 crore has been set, against which Rs 11,783.76 crore revenue has been received till June. He praised the officers of Ayodhya, Mirzapur and Prayagraj districts who achieved maximum revenue till June and gave a strict warning to the officers of Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Banda districts who achieved minimum revenue and said that any kind of laxity in revenue collection will not be tolerated. The Excise Minister said that under no circumstances illegal liquor should be allowed to enter the state from outside. Strict action should be taken against the licensees who overrate.
