Atlanta: External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has called for diplomatic solutions rather than military options to address global crises, reiterating India’s emphasis on peace, dialogue and international cooperation at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and the Quad ministerial meeting in Atlanta, United States.
Addressing a key plenary session, Jaishankar expressed concern over disruptions in global energy markets, stressing that the current crisis was not caused by a shortage of production but by growing international uncertainty, artificial disruptions, high costs and difficulties faced by developing countries in accessing resources.
He cautioned against politicising energy flows and deliberately holding energy trade hostage, pointing out that low-income countries in the Global South were bearing the greatest burden of such disruptions.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Jaishankar also interacted with Indian Consuls General posted across the United States. In a post on X, he said discussions covered bilateral relations and new initiatives in trade, innovation, education and community engagement, reflecting the expanding scope of India-US ties.
The External Affairs Minister also held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Germany.

His meeting with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand focused on new areas of cooperation, regional security and economic engagement.
Discussions with Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira covered critical minerals, including lithium, defence cooperation, civil nuclear engagement and energy security.
Meetings with German representatives and Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco Álvarez focused on expanding trade, advanced technologies and strengthening coordination at multilateral forums.
The engagements provided an opportunity for India to discuss global challenges, strengthen bilateral partnerships and explore cooperation across economic, technological and strategic sectors.
