Abu Dhabi: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri undertook an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 1 and 2, reviewing progress in the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exploring opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit was part of the regular high-level engagements that characterise India-UAE relations.
In Abu Dhabi, Misri held discussions with Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Special Envoy to India. Both sides reviewed the strategic bilateral partnership across various sectors, explored new avenues of cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global developments.
The Foreign Secretary also met Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional cooperation in tourism, cultural and creative exchanges, including the proposed ‘House of India’, and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
Misri further held talks with Jasim Mohammed Buatabh Al Jabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Finance and Managing Director and Group CEO of a sovereign investment platform and wealth fund. The discussions focused on expanding economic ties, encouraging investment flows and building long-term business partnerships beneficial to both economies.
The MEA said the visit reaffirmed the foundations of mutual trust and strategic alignment underpinning India-UAE relations, while reflecting the commitment of both countries to further strengthen their partnership.
Before travelling to the UAE, Misri attended the 22nd edition of the regional security dialogue in Bahrain, where discussions focused on regional security developments and the importance of maintaining stability.
