Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party’s national president Mayawati has welcomed the decision to cancel the proposal to teach Manusmriti in the law department of Delhi University. BSP supremo said that the constitution created by Baba Saheb does not match Manusmriti at all.

Mayawati posted on X on Friday and wrote that going against the honor and dignity of the Indian Constitution and its egalitarian and welfare objectives, the strong opposition to the proposal to teach Manusmriti in the law department of Delhi University is natural and the decision to cancel this proposal is a welcome step.
The BSP chief said that the most revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar created the universally accepted Indian Constitution, especially by keeping the self-respect and self-esteem of the neglected and women as well as humanism and secularism at the core, which does not match Manusmriti at all. Therefore, any such effort is not justified at all.
Actually, the law teachers of Delhi University had suggested that Manusmriti be taught to the students of the first and last semester. For this, it was suggested to teach two books named Manusmriti and Manusmriti ki Vyakhya along with Manubhashi, which has been rejected. At the same time, Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh has clearly said that Manusmriti will not be taught to the students.
