Man Arrested for Land Fraud Using Forged Documents in Lucknow

Lucknow: The Mohanlalganj police in Lucknow’s South Zone have arrested an accused involved in an alleged land fraud case, where forged documents were used to illegally encroach a disputed property.

According to police officials, the case came to light following a complaint filed by Shiv Kumar, a resident of Unnao district. He alleged that a group of individuals had prepared fake entries in a family register to illegally claim ownership of land (Gata No. 65) located in Birsinghpur village under Nigohan police station limits in Mohanlalganj tehsil.

The complainant stated that the land dispute is already under judicial consideration, and a stay order had been issued earlier by a court in Lucknow. Despite this, the accused allegedly concealed facts and managed to obtain an ex-parte order from the judicial tehsildar, Mohanlalganj, on October 19, 2023, based on forged documents.

Following the complaint, a case (No. 29/2026) was registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and an investigation was launched.

During the probe, police found that the land had originally been sold in 2011 by Ram Kumar to Raja Ram, who later passed away in 2016 without legal heirs. Taking advantage of this situation, the accused allegedly conspired to fabricate a fake family register by manipulating lineage details—replacing the name of the original ancestor to falsely establish inheritance claims.

Using these forged records, the accused obtained official approval to register the land in their names and subsequently attempted to gain illegal financial benefits by entering into agreements related to the property.

Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, one of the prime accused, Dashrath (26), a resident of Nevalkheda village in Mohanlalganj, was arrested on April 25 from Jyotinagar Tiraha. Police said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused and collect further evidence in the case.

The arrest was carried out by a police team led by Sub-Inspector Saurabh Singh and Sub-Inspector Arun Kumar.

Officials reiterated that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in forgery and land fraud, emphasizing their commitment to protecting property rights and upholding the rule of law.
