Lucknow: Habibullah Alumni Organization organized an alumni meet ‘Samagam 2024’ in the premises of Habibullah Hostel, the historic hostel of Lucknow University. The program started with the lighting of the lamp. The lamp was lit by the special guests Justice Brijraj Singh, Vice Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor Professor Manuka Khanna, Ajay Singh MLA Haraiya Basti.
In the program, Vice Chancellor Alok Kumar Rai, Justice Brijraj Singh and Vice Chancellor Professor Manuka Khanna were welcomed by presenting a memento and a shawl. In the program, the magazine ‘Yugantar’, which preserves the history of the hostel, was released by Vice Chancellor and Justice Brijraj Singh.
In the same series, the book “Pandit Badrinath Mishra: Life and Literature” written by Dr. Raj Mahesh Mishra, a former resident of the hostel, was released by Justice Brijraj Singh and the newly created logo of the hostel was released by Vice Chancellor Alok Kumar Rai.
As per tradition, Habibullah Alumni Association honours some of its senior students with special honours. In the same series, Professor CP Singh (former Dean, Faculty of Law, Lucknow University) and eminent social worker MP Singh were honoured. Students participating in the senior competitive sports organised on the occasion of Samagam 2024 were also honoured, in which the winners of chess, table tennis, badminton, cricket, volleyball and carrom were honoured.
Every year, the meritorious students of the hostel who display their talent in various faculties, including Shreyansh Shukla, who had won 9 gold medals in MSc Mathematics and Ayush Chauhan, who has been awarded the Chakravarti Gold Medal, were also honoured. In the programme, the present inmate of the hostel, Priyanshu Tripathi, won the hearts of all the former inmates with his melodious voice and reminded them of their old days. Present inmate Ashutosh Singh reminded all the former inmates of their old mess days with his poem ‘Manoram Ki Thali’.
As it is known that Habibullah never forgets its old inmates, in the same sequence some elements remembered with tearful eyes some of the deceased former inmates like late Rana Pratap Singh Hardoi, late Sarvendra Singh, late Shail Singh, wife of Professor C P Singh, late Ashok Singh, late Abhishek Singh.
The biggest contribution in making the program successful is said to be of Upendra Singh, KP Singh, Dilip Singh, Anil Singh Viru, Anshuman Singh, Himanshu Chaudhary, Prakash Singh of the alumni organization, who worked tirelessly for the past one month to prepare the outline of the program and make it successful. In the end, the hostel’s warden Dr. Mahendra Agnihotri concluded the program by expressing his gratitude on behalf of the hostel.
