Governor reviews works of urban development Department

Lucknow: A review meeting of the Urban Development Department was held at Raj Bhavan under the chairmanship of the Governor of the state,  Anandiben Patel. In the meeting, the acts related to house tax, water tax, sewer tax by the Urban Development Department on the state universities coming under the area of ​​​​the Municipal Corporation were discussed. On this occasion, the statutory provisions of the Urban Development Department of Uttar Pradesh and Municipal Corporation Property Tax Rules etc. were discussed. The related statutory provisions of various states were also discussed in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Governor said that the rules of the Urban Development Department should be updated and revised regarding water tax, sewer tax, house tax etc. Explaining the need for energy and water conservation, she said that do not waste water, understand its importance.

She directed the Urban Development Department to study the revised rules of various states regarding tax assessment on state universities. While reviewing the taxes imposed on the university by the Urban Development Department, the Governor said that tax should be imposed as per the standard and in this context, a cell should be created in coordination with the university and the urban development officer, which can assess rational taxes. She said that the newly built university should also be thought about and after the use of university buildings and campus during elections and for government work, it should be properly repaired and then handed over to the university. On this occasion, the State Urban Development Minister A.K. Sharma, while instructing the officers present, said that the rules of different states should be studied in the context of the tax imposed by Urban Development and there should be a rational reason behind imposing the tax.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary  Governor Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Principal Secretary Urban Development Amrit Abhijat, Vice Chancellor Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Bhasha Vishwavidyalaya, Professor N.B. Singh, Municipal Commissioner Lucknow etc. were present and the Vice Chancellors of the state universities and Municipal Commissioners remained connected online.
