Gonda: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved development proposals worth ₹4,901.65 crore, including major road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity to prominent religious destinations across the Devipatan and Basti divisions.
The Chief Minister, who visited Gonda for the second time in just 13 days, chaired a high-level review meeting at Maharaja Suheldev Auditorium, where he examined presentations on development proposals submitted by public representatives from 33 Assembly constituencies. The projects primarily focus on strengthening road networks, rural connectivity, bridge construction, and infrastructure development.
A key highlight of the meeting was the approval of 13 major road corridors connecting the revered Maa Pateshwari Shaktipeeth and Swaminarayan Temple with important religious destinations, including Makhoda Dham and several other pilgrimage sites. The initiative is expected to significantly improve access for devotees and boost religious tourism in the region.
During the review, the Chief Minister assessed the progress of road and connectivity projects in Gonda, Balrampur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Basti, Siddharthnagar, and Sant Kabir Nagar districts. He directed officials to ensure the timely completion of all pending projects and emphasized the importance of connecting rural areas with major highways and urban centers.
Among the approved proposals, the largest component falls under the Chief Minister Rural Road Scheme, with 810 projects receiving clearance at an estimated cost of ₹1,472.83 crore. The projects will facilitate the construction of approximately 1,602 kilometres of roads across rural regions, significantly improving transportation and connectivity. More than 50 roads will also undergo widening and strengthening works.

The Chief Minister reviewed development plans worth nearly ₹50 crore for each Assembly constituency and discussed project implementation with elected representatives. Special attention was given to improving infrastructure in backward and aspirational blocks.
In another major boost to infrastructure, the state government approved two state highways, connectivity projects for key industrial areas, 81 minor bridges, and seven major bridges. Urban traffic improvement projects, including bypass roads and overbridges, also received approval. Additionally, construction of 12 helipads in rural areas was sanctioned.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also sought updates on several important road repair and strengthening projects in Gonda district and reiterated the need to maintain momentum under the state’s pothole-free road campaign, aimed at ensuring safer and smoother travel across Uttar Pradesh.
