Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Prayagraj to review the preparations for the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025. The Chief Minister performed an aarti at the Sangam Nose Ghat and conducted an extensive inspection of key venues and projects associated with the event.
Bio CNG Plant: Transforming Waste into Wealth
During his visit, CM Yogi inspected the MSW Bio CNG Plant, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at ensuring a clean and well-organized Mahakumbh. This municipal solid waste-based plant, the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh, is set to benefit Prayagraj even beyond the Mahakumbh.
Highlighting the plant’s significance, the Chief Minister said, “This Bio CNG plant embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Waste to Wealth.’” The facility processes 200 tonnes of wet waste daily to produce approximately 21,500 kilograms of bio CNG and 209 tonnes of organic manure. It is estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 56,700 tonnes annually.
Steel Bridge in Phaphamau: Enhancing Connectivity
The Chief Minister also reviewed the under-construction steel bridge over the Ganga in Phaphamau. Once completed, this 450-meter-long structure, built with 4,500 tonnes of iron, will provide a vital link for pilgrims and tourists arriving from western Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan. CM Yogi described the bridge as a key route for traffic during the Mahakumbh, ensuring seamless movement for devotees.
Focus on Bathing Ghats and Sustainability
To ensure the safety and convenience of devotees, CM Yogi inspected multiple bathing ghats, including the Sangam Airavat Ghat and Sangam Nose Ghat. Emphasizing timely completion of preparations, he remarked, “All arrangements must be in place to guarantee safe bathing for the devotees.”
In alignment with environmental goals, efforts are underway to make Mahakumbh 2025 free from single-use plastics. All hoardings, banners, and carry bags will be biodegradable. Additionally, 5,000 Kumbh Seva Mitras will be deployed to assist devotees, with specialized training to enhance their service.
VIP Ghat and Spiritual Observances
CM Yogi also inspected the VIP Ghat under construction near the fort and visited Triveni Sangam, where he performed Sangam Puja. The visit concluded with a darshan of Bade Hanuman Ji.
A Holistic Vision for Mahakumbh 2025
With his detailed review, CM Yogi aims to ensure that Mahakumbh 2025 stands out not just as a grand spiritual gathering but also as a benchmark in administrative efficiency and environmental consciousness.
