Five Drivers Challaned for Drunk Driving in Joint Gonda Enforcement Drive

Gonda: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Gonda, and the Gonda Traffic Police conducted a joint checking drive at Gurunanak Crossing to curb road accidents and raise awareness about traffic rules. During the operation, five people were challaned for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The special enforcement drive aimed to take strict action against drunk driving and promote responsible road behaviour among motorists.

During the checking, officials identified five drivers who were allegedly driving after consuming alcohol and issued challans against them. The drivers were warned to comply with traffic regulations and refrain from such irresponsible behaviour in the future.

Officials and traffic personnel also educated motorists and the public about the dangers of drunk driving, explaining that alcohol impairs judgement and slows reaction times, increasing the risk of accidents. They stressed that driving under the influence endangers not only the driver but also other road users.

Motorists were also advised to wear helmets, use seat belts, maintain prescribed speed limits, follow traffic signals and avoid using mobile phones while driving.

The ARTO and Traffic Police stated that enforcement action would continue against those violating traffic rules. They emphasised that such campaigns were intended not merely to issue challans but also to improve road safety awareness and reduce accidents.

Authorities urged citizens to follow traffic regulations and contribute to safer roads, reiterating the message: Stay safe and keep others safe. Never drink and drive.
