Ayodhya: The historic city of Ayodhya is gearing up for its 10th Deepotsav, with preparations gaining momentum amid the possibility of Union Home Minister Amit Shah attending the celebrations as the chief guest.
If confirmed, this would mark the first time a Union Home Minister participates as the chief guest in Ayodhya’s Deepotsav celebrations. The proposed visit has generated considerable excitement among local residents, saints and religious leaders.
Various government departments are coordinating arrangements to make the festival grand. Preparations include decorative lighting, beautification of the city, security arrangements and the organisation of cultural programmes showcasing India’s diverse traditions. Millions of earthen lamps are expected to illuminate the temple town.
Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi said it was a matter of pride for the residents that Amit Shah was expected to attend the celebrations. His presence would further enhance the significance of the event, he added.

Saint Sitaram Das also welcomed the possibility of the Home Minister’s visit, describing Deepotsav as a symbol of Ayodhya’s faith, culture and traditions. He said the saint community was looking forward to welcoming him.
Residents believe the proposed visit would provide further national prominence to Ayodhya’s religious and cultural identity. The 10th edition of Deepotsav is expected to be particularly significant, combining grand celebrations, cultural performances and the illumination of the holy city with millions of diyas.
