AGDC shows skill at NCC Combined Annual Training Camp

Lucknow: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is dedicated to instilling leadership, discipline, and patriotism among India’s youth. This year, 56 enthusiastic cadets from Avadh Girls’ Degree College took part in the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC – 222).
The camp was organized by the 19 UP Girls Battalion NCC, Lucknow, and was held from July 29 to August 7, 2024, at the 01 MT BN AMC Centre College Cantt, Lucknow. It was a residential camp, where cadets followed a rigorous schedule.
The day began as early as 5:30 a.m., followed by central classes on various subjects conducted by NCC officials. The cadets also attended insightful and informative lectures delivered by distinguished speakers from the Army, covering topics such as SSB joining procedures, cyber security and crime, traffic rules and regulations, and fire safety measures.
To promote physical and mental well-being, a variety of sports activities, including volleyball, throwball, kho-kho, and dodgeball, were organized every evening. Before dinner, cultural programs and competitions enriched the cadets’ overall experience. Cadets also participated in competitions such as weapon training, map reading, judging distance, and field craft, earning notable ranks based on their merits.
The cadets were divided into different companies based on their colleges and battalions, with Avadh Girls’ Degree College assigned to Foxtrot Company. SGT Avantika was appointed as the company in charge, while Corporal Priya Kulshreshtha served as the Platoon and College Senior. Corporal Divyanshi Singh held the position of CQMS. Cadets Pooja Kumari and Sonali Kumari excelled in piloting, and cadets Priya Kulshreshtha, Corporal Divyanshi Singh, and Khushi were selected for the Guard of Honor. All were awarded medals for their outstanding performance.
The college also excelled in cultural programs. Lance Corporal Ruchika Nanthani and Corporal Falguni Rao secured first and second places in solo singing, respectively, and the college achieved second place in the group dance competition.
Corporal Priya Kulshreshtha earned a medal in Map Reading, and cadet Vanya Shukla received a medal in Judging Distance and Field Craft (JDFC) for their exceptional performances.
Overall, the camp was both enjoyable and informative, equipping cadets for a disciplined life. As the saying goes, “The most beautiful endings often lead to the most unexpected beginnings,” and the lessons learned during CATC 2024 will undoubtedly help the cadets become responsible and capable citizens.
Principal Prof Bina Rai appreciated the achievements and efforts of the cadets and the NCC officer Lt(Dr) Sarita Singh. She also felicitated the cadets with certificates.
