Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a serious stand on the complaints of illegal mining in the state. On the instructions of the CM, the Department of Geology and Mining is preparing to effectively curb illegal mining by using technology on a large scale. For this, illegal mining areas will be monitored through satellite. Also, vehicles engaged in illegal mining will be tracked through the VTS system. Not only this, brick kilns will also be marked through remote sensing.
Proposal has been received from UPDESCO
According to the officials of the department, many proposals are ready for technical strengthening to prevent illegal mining / transportation. Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) and Remote Sensing are the most important among them. Real time tracking of vehicles transporting sub-minerals will be possible through VTS. It will also be ensured that the e-transport form is issued on the vehicle only when that vehicle is directly present in the geo fence area for the mining area. A proposal has been received from UPdesko to implement the VTS system. Apart from this, proposals have also been sought from other technical institutions.
Employees will be in uniform during enforcement action
Remote sensing will also be used to prevent illegal mining/transportation. In this, the department has already established a remote sensing lab at the directorate level. Through this, satellite imagery will be prepared to identify new mining areas. Also, illegal mining will be marked. Not only this, brick kilns will also be marked through remote sensing. 15444 brick kilns are registered in the state. Also, survey of mining areas and supervision of approved mining areas will be done through drone survey. The department is also preparing to increase the number of vehicles for enforcement action. Till now, only 55 districts of the state have approval to keep vehicles for enforcement work. Soon a proposal has been sent to approve it for all the districts of the state. Not only this, uniforms will also be arranged for the employees during enforcement action.
