Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow turned into a scene of warmth and affection on Raksha Bandhan as schoolgirls tied rakhis on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s wrist during the special ‘Bitiya Aur Bahna – UP Ka Gehna’ Sneh Bandhan programme.
The event brought together students from several schools, who expressed their affection and trust by tying the traditional sacred thread on the Chief Minister’s wrist. Adityanath interacted warmly with the girls, asked about their studies and aspirations, and blessed them for a bright and successful future.
Extending his Raksha Bandhan greetings, the Chief Minister said that the festival in Indian culture was not merely about tying a protective thread but represented love, faith, responsibility, respect and social harmony.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity, education and self-reliance of women and girls. He told the students that daughters were a source of strength not only for their families but also for the state and the country.
Adityanath encouraged the girls to study diligently, set clear goals and move forward with confidence. He assured them that the government would continue working to provide opportunities for education, safety and a better future.
A Bond of Affection and Trust
The students prayed for the Chief Minister’s health and long life as they tied rakhis on his wrist. Adityanath reciprocated by blessing the girls and presenting them with gifts.
The interaction between the students and the Chief Minister gave the programme a distinctly familial atmosphere. The sacred thread of Raksha Bandhan symbolised both the affection and trust expressed by the girls and the government’s stated commitment towards their safety, dignity and future.
Students from several educational institutions participated in the programme, including Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School in Malihabad, Upper Primary School Mahmoodpur in Gosainganj, Bharat Scouts and Guides, The Sanskriti School, Atal Residential School in Mohanlalganj, A.P. Sen Memorial Girls Inter College and Lucknow Public College, A-Block, Rajajipuram, among others.
Students Tie Rakhis to CM
Adrika, Arpita, Anshika, Jhanvi, Ankita, Komal, Aarohi, Khushi, Divya, Anaysa, Stuti and Tanzim Fatima were among the students who applied tilak to the Chief Minister and tied rakhis on his wrist.
Adityanath also interacted with the students and asked about their academic progress and studies. Volunteers associated with the Friends of Yogi family also sent rakhis to the Chief Minister along with Raksha Bandhan greetings.
Children Interact with Chief Minister
The Chief Minister responded to questions from the students during the interaction. Shail Kumari, Ananya, Samriddhi Verma, Ayesha Bano, Vaishnavi Pal, Divya, Abhilasha Singh, Aaradhya, Shreyasi, Srija, Agrima, Mahi, Yashika, Ananshi and Sukaina were among those who spoke with him.
Adityanath answered their questions and also gave an autograph to Anaysa Bhargava, a student of The Sanskriti School.
The Chief Minister later took selfies and posed for photographs with the students, generating considerable excitement among the young participants.
Nandini, a Class 8 student of Upper Primary School Mahmoodpur, presented Adityanath with a Raksha Bandhan greeting card she had made herself. The Chief Minister appreciated her effort and encouraged her.
The Sneh Bandhan programme thus became an occasion that brought together the festive spirit of Raksha Bandhan and the message of ensuring greater opportunities, security and empowerment for girls across Uttar Pradesh.
