CARI Scientists Win Prestigious WPSA Education Award 2026 at World Poultry Congress

Bareilly: Two distinguished scientists from the ICAR-Central Avian Research Institute (CARI), Bareilly have brought international recognition to India by receiving the prestigious World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) Education Award 2026 during the 27th World’s Poultry Congress held in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Jaydeep Rokade and Dr. Sandeep Saran were honoured with the coveted award, which carries a cash prize of USD 15,000 along with a citation, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to poultry education and capacity building.

The achievement marks a historic milestone for Indian poultry science. Dr. Jaydeep Rokade has become the first veterinarian from Asia to receive the prestigious global honour and is also the youngest scientist in WPSA history to be conferred with the award.

Dr. Sandeep Saran was recognised for his exceptional contributions to poultry education, agribusiness development, entrepreneurship promotion, policy formulation and human resource capacity building. Together, the two scientists have transformed poultry education through innovative digital learning modules, cutting-edge research, technology commercialisation and extensive rural outreach programmes.

Their initiatives have empowered thousands of students, farmers, rural women and young entrepreneurs by equipping them with technical knowledge, practical skills and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods in the poultry sector.

Congratulating the awardees, Dr. Jagveer Singh Tyagi, Director of ICAR-CARI, described the recognition as a proud moment not only for the institute but also for the country’s scientific community.

“This award is not merely an individual achievement of two scientists but a reflection of ICAR-CARI’s unwavering commitment to serving farmers, students and rural communities. Over the past five years, Dr. Rokade and Dr. Saran have worked with remarkable dedication towards the holistic development of farmers and learners. Their global recognition validates the impact of their efforts and inspires the entire scientific fraternity to continue working in the right direction,” he said.

Dr. Tyagi added that the international honour reinforces the institute’s commitment to scientific excellence, social responsibility and knowledge dissemination. He noted that ICAR-CARI will continue to ensure that the benefits of research and education reach farmers at the grassroots level while contributing to the strengthening of India’s rural economy.

The recognition is being viewed as a landmark achievement for ICAR-CARI and a significant milestone for India’s poultry science community, highlighting the country’s growing leadership in agricultural education, innovation and rural development on the global stage.
