Joint Enforcement Drive in Gonda Targets Traffic Violations, Unauthorised School Vehicles

Gonda: The Transport Department and Traffic Police carried out a special joint enforcement drive in Gonda district on July 11, intensifying action against traffic violations and unauthorised vehicles as part of efforts to enhance road safety.

During the operation, officials seized three privately owned Bolero vehicles that were allegedly being used illegally for transporting schoolchildren. A Tata Magic school vehicle was also impounded after it was found operating without registration. In addition, one unregistered auto-rickshaw was seized during the drive.

Authorities also issued challans to six school vehicles for various violations related to transport regulations.

The enforcement campaign extended beyond school transport, with officials taking action against motorists for offences including riding without helmets, driving uninsured vehicles, operating vehicles without High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), driving without a valid licence, drunken driving, and other violations of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Overall, more than 80 challans were issued during the drive, while 15 vehicles were seized for serious traffic and regulatory violations.

Officials said strict enforcement against traffic offenders would continue as part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reduce road accidents, improve compliance with traffic regulations and ensure safer roads across the district.

The Transport Department reiterated that similar joint enforcement campaigns will be conducted regularly to strengthen road safety and promote responsible driving practices.
