Lucknow: In a heartwarming example of community policing, the Kakori Police under the Lucknow Commissionerate successfully traced and reunited a missing deaf and mute child with his family, bringing emotional closure to a four-day-long search that ended in tears of joy for the parents.
The child, who had gone missing from the Jankipuram area on 16 May 2026 under mysterious circumstances, was safely recovered by Kakori police during routine patrolling in a vulnerable stretch of their jurisdiction. Unable to speak or hear, the child could not provide any information about his identity or residence, making the initial investigation challenging.
Acting swiftly, the police team initiated efforts under “Operation Muskaan”, a coordinated search initiative for missing children, and ensured that the child was provided immediate care, food, and safety after being found alone and distressed.
The child was later identified through coordinated verification between Kakori Police Station and Jankipuram Police Station, with the help of missing persons records and inter-station communication.
Police Team’s Swift Action
The operation was led by Satyendra Chand Rathi, along with Sub-Inspector Surjeet Kushwaha and Constable Ajit Singh. Officials said that multiple channels, including police networks, wireless communication, and coordination with nearby police stations, were used to trace the child’s family.
After verification of identity and legal formalities, the child was safely handed over to his parents at Kakori Police Station on 20 May 2026 in the presence of senior officers.
Emotional Reunion
The moment the child was reunited with his family turned deeply emotional, as the parents broke down in tears after seeing their son safe after days of uncertainty. The family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the police, stating that timely intervention and dedication of the Kakori police team brought their child back home safely.

Police officials described the case as a reminder of the human side of policing, where compassion plays a crucial role alongside law enforcement duties.
Police Statement
Officials from Kakori Police stated that once the child was found, he was immediately provided care and comfort. Efforts were made to identify him through missing child databases and inter-district coordination.
“The safety of innocent and vulnerable children remains our highest priority. In cases like these, our duty goes beyond law enforcement and becomes a humanitarian responsibility,” said the station in-charge.
Advisory to Citizens
Following the incident, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate has urged parents to ensure that young children, especially those with disabilities or communication challenges, carry identification details or contact information to help authorities respond quickly in emergencies.
The successful reunion has been widely appreciated by local residents, social organizations, and senior police officials, who praised the Kakori police team for their sensitivity, prompt action, and commitment to public service.
The case once again highlights the importance of community policing and rapid inter-station coordination in ensuring the safety of missing and vulnerable children across the city.
