Lucknow: A one-day national seminar on the theme “Samaveshi Vikas, Vidhik, Sanvedhanik, Samajik aur Arthik Aayam: Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar ki Drishti Me” was organized at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) as part of its four-day celebrations marking Ambedkar Jayanti and the University Foundation Day.
The seminar, held on the second day of the celebrations, brought together eminent academicians and scholars who deliberated on the multidimensional aspects of inclusive development inspired by the ideals of B. R. Ambedkar.
Focus on Inclusive and Sustainable Growth
The event was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Raj Kumar Mittal, who emphasized that inclusive development is essential for achieving the vision of a developed India. He highlighted that growth must be rooted in equality, harmony, liberty, and environmental sensitivity. Stressing the importance of citizen participation, he noted that a strong democracy depends on active public engagement and equitable opportunities for all.
Keynote Addresses by Eminent Guests
Chief Guest Satish Chandra Dwivedi elaborated on sustainable development, identifying economic stability, equitable growth, and inclusiveness as its three core pillars. He stated that true national progress can only be achieved when development benefits reach all sections of society and citizens remain aware and proactive.
Guest of Honour Chandrashekhar described Dr. Ambedkar as a multidimensional thinker whose ideas transcend time. He highlighted Ambedkar’s intellectual contributions through works such as “Who Were the Shudras?”, “States and Minorities,” “Mooknayak,” and “Riddles in Hinduism.”
Another Guest of Honour, S K Chahal, underscored the importance of equal opportunities and empowerment of marginalized sections. He linked inclusiveness with social justice, calling Dr. Ambedkar synonymous with the concept of social democracy.
Emphasis on Education and Social Justice
Raj Sharan Shahi, Head and Dean of the Department of Education, highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s lifelong commitment to social upliftment. He described education as the most powerful tool for societal transformation and stressed the core constitutional values of equality, liberty, and fraternity.

Sudarshan Verma emphasized Ambedkar’s role in strengthening political and social equality, particularly for marginalized communities and women. Referring to his famous call—“Educate, Organize, Agitate”—she also discussed contemporary steps such as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023, as milestones toward women’s empowerment.
Academic Engagement and Cultural Activities
The seminar began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, followed by the university anthem. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Raj Sharan Shahi, while the proceedings were conducted by Dr. Vivek Nath Tripathi.
As part of the celebrations, several competitions—including poster-making, debate, quiz, and rangoli—were organized around the theme of inclusive development. An exhibition showcasing rural industries, handicrafts, and traditional art added vibrancy to the event.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Harishankar Singh, and the dignitaries were honored with mementos and traditional shawls.
Faculty members, researchers, students, and staff from various departments actively participated, making the seminar a meaningful academic engagement reflecting the enduring relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s vision in contemporary India.
