Bareilly: A review meeting regarding preparations for the upcoming Census was held under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Avinash Singh with officials appointed and nominated for census duties.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate directed that personnel for the roles of enumerators and supervisors be appointed at the earliest and provided with proper training. He emphasized that training must be of high quality to ensure smooth and accurate execution of census operations. He also instructed officials to complete the data feeding process promptly and ensure all arrangements for training at the tehsil level are made in advance under the supervision of concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrates.
Officials informed that, as per the Gazette notification of the Government of Government of India, the house listing and housing census is proposed to be conducted over a 30-day period between April 1 and September 30, 2026. Self-enumeration is scheduled from May 7 to May 21, 2026, followed by house listing and enumeration from May 22 to June 20, 2026. The main population census is planned to commence on February 9, 2027, and conclude by February 28, 2027.
It was also highlighted that HLBs (Census House Listing Blocks) have already been demarcated. For urban census operations, the Additional Municipal Commissioner of Bareilly Municipal Corporation has been designated as the Nodal Urban Census Officer. Under his supervision, four zones will have designated charge officers. Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer of the Cantonment Board, all six Tehsildars, and Executive Officers of four Nagar Palikas and 15 Nagar Panchayats have been appointed as charge officers, supported by Additional Charge Officers.
To streamline operations, a dedicated Census Cell and Control Room has been established at Room No. 11 of the Collectorate in Bareilly.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Santosh Kumar Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Shashibhushan Rai, Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Sadar, Aonla, and Baheri, along with the District Inspector of Schools, Basic Education Officer, and Executive Officers of municipal bodies.
The review meeting underscored the administration’s focus on timely preparation and efficient execution of the upcoming Census process.
