TOCFL Exam Conducted at MJP Rohilkhand University; Successful Students Eye 100% Scholarship in Taiwan

Bareilly: The Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University successfully conducted the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) on March 29, 2026, at its Multilingual Center under the Department of Humanities. The examination was organized with the inspiration of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh in collaboration with the Taiwan Education and Cultural Center. A total of 15 students participated in the test.

To prepare students for the upcoming selection interviews conducted by TECC and to meet the requirements for studying in Taiwan, the Multilingual Center, under the coordination of Prof. Anita Tyagi, constituted a committee of senior faculty members. The committee conducted a special interview session to assess the students’ language proficiency, communication skills, and subject understanding. All candidates participated actively in the process.

According to Mandarin instructor Chiali Chen from Taiwan, the TOCFL examination provides students with a valuable opportunity to demonstrate their Mandarin proficiency at an international level. Students who successfully clear the exam and selection process are eligible for a 100% scholarship offered by the Taiwan government, covering tuition fees and other academic expenses.

The TECC is expected to conduct the final interview round soon. Selected candidates will get the opportunity to pursue higher education at prestigious universities in Taiwan. Over the years, the Multilingual Center has consistently organized TOCFL exams, enabling several students to study in Taiwan, while many are currently enrolled in universities there. This will be the fifth batch of students from the center heading to Taiwan.

The initiative is being seen as a significant step toward enhancing students’ global competitiveness and expanding the university’s international academic footprint. Faculty members encouraged students to actively participate in such international opportunities.

Chairperson of the interview committee, Prof. Anita Tyagi, extended her best wishes to the participants, stating that such opportunities open new avenues and shape brighter futures.

Students also shared their experiences after the exam. Geetanjali Tiwari described the test as a positive experience, noting that the paper was well-balanced and aligned with their preparation. Mohammad Anas highlighted that learning Mandarin has been a new and enriching experience, adding that the opportunity to study in Taiwan could be a major boost to his career.
