Jos Buttler Creates History, Sets Unprecedented Record in England Cricket

New Delhi | England’s star batter and former captain Jos Buttler etched his name into the history books by achieving a landmark feat never before accomplished by an English cricketer. During the second T20 International against Sri Lanka, Buttler played his 402nd international match, becoming the most-capped international cricketer in England’s history.

With this appearance, the 35-year-old surpassed legendary fast bowler James Anderson, who previously held the record with 401 international matches for England. Buttler’s achievement marks a significant milestone in a career defined by consistency, adaptability and match-winning performances across formats.

In the second T20I, Buttler scored a brisk 39 off 29 balls, contributing decisively to England’s victory. The win helped England secure an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
