Doctors from Across India Convene in Lucknow for AAPMRCON 2025, Spotlighting Advances in Rehabilitation Medicine

Lucknow: The three-day national conference AAPMRCON 2025, hosted by the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR) at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), concluded with active participation from leading medical institutions across India. Organized by the Avadh Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the event brought together experts to discuss new-age rehabilitation models, neuroplasticity, ICU rehab innovations, and technology-driven therapies.

The valedictory day witnessed distinguished specialists from premier institutions—AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Patna, PGIMER Chandigarh, SGPGIMS Lucknow, KGMU Lucknow, and UPUMS Saifai—deliberating on ICU rehabilitation, neuroplasticity, stroke recovery, multidisciplinary care, and emerging rehabilitation technologies.

Inauguration and Key Leadership Participation

In the absence of Director Prof. C.M. Singh, Acting Director Prof. Rajan Bhatnagar formally inaugurated the conference. Director Prof. Singh and Dean Prof. Pradyumn Singh later extended their congratulations for the successful conduct of the event.

Due to the absence of the Chief Medical Superintendent, Medical Superintendent Prof. Arvind Kumar Singh addressed the inaugural session, underscoring the importance of team-based rehabilitation models in ICUs, especially for critically ill patients.

Insightful Keynote Sessions

The day began with two impactful keynote lectures.

  • Prof. R.K. Srivastava presented national and international perspectives on ICU and acute rehabilitation frameworks, highlighting structural, policy, and management requirements in modern healthcare.

  • Prof. U. Singh discussed the scientific need for early mobility, challenges in ICU rehabilitation, and the role of neuroplasticity in accelerating recovery.

Both speakers appreciated RMLIMS for convening experts from across the country on a single platform.

High-Quality Scientific and Technical Discussions

The conference proceeded with intensive scientific sessions covering:

  • ICU rehabilitation protocols
  • Delirium management
  • Ventilator weaning
  • Critical care mobility
  • Biomarker-based therapy
  • Neuroplasticity and the critical recovery window
  • Neuro-modulation approaches

Senior faculty and young doctors shared institutional experiences, case-based studies, and demonstrations on MSK ultrasound, robotics, virtual reality therapy, AI-driven rehabilitation systems, and emerging tele-rehab models.

Multidisciplinary Approach Highlighted

A special multidisciplinary session emphasized the integrated role of speech and swallow therapy, clinical psychology, and PMR specialists. Presenters reiterated that holistic rehabilitation is only effective when physical, psychological, and social needs are addressed collectively.

Young Researchers Shine

The free paper session saw energetic participation from young researchers across India, who presented studies on stroke rehabilitation, spinal cord injuries, robotics, musculoskeletal rehab, and pain management. Their work received high praise from judges for scientific rigor and innovation.

Conference Sets New Benchmarks in India’s Rehab Landscape

Organizing Chairman Prof. V.S. Gogia remarked that AAPMRCON 2025 has set new standards for rehabilitation medicine in North India. He emphasized that the insights shared during the event would guide future healthcare policies and help advance ICU and neuro-rehabilitation frameworks nationwide.

The conference successfully positioned RMLIMS as a rising academic hub for rehabilitation sciences by bringing together modern concepts such as neuroplasticity, advanced technology interfaces, ICU rehab modules, artificial intelligence-based therapies, and multidisciplinary treatment strategies.

Gratitude and Closing

Organizing Secretary Dr. Yash Veer Singh expressed gratitude to all participating experts, institutions, delegates, and media representatives for contributing to the success of AAPMRCON 2025.

The conference concluded on a note of collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to strengthening rehabilitation medicine in India.
