Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday made a significant announcement on the occasion of the Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar. Addressing a programme organised by the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Mahasabha Trust, the Chief Minister said that boundary walls and protective canopies will be constructed around all statues of Baba Saheb across the state to ensure their safety.
Yogi Adityanath said that some mischievous elements often attempt to damage these statues, and therefore, the state government has decided to take strict measures for their protection. “Wherever Baba Saheb’s statues are installed, boundary walls will be constructed and canopies will be placed to ensure their safety,” he said.
Minimum Honorarium for Class IV, Contract and Sanitation Workers Soon
The Chief Minister also assured that Class IV employees, contract workers, and sanitation staff will soon receive a guaranteed minimum honorarium. Referring to a demand raised during the programme, he said the government has already constituted a corporation for this purpose. “In the next one or two months, we will ensure that all these workers receive the minimum guaranteed honorarium,” he added.
No One Will Be Left Behind, Says CM
Yogi Adityanath reiterated the commitment of the double-engine government to uplift every deprived citizen. Under ongoing state and central schemes, ration cards, pensions, housing benefits under PM Awas Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat health coverage of ₹5 lakh are being provided to eligible families.
He said the identification of the most deprived groups—including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and extremely backward communities—has almost been completed. “No poor or deprived family will remain without benefits. Our government is committed to ensuring that every citizen receives the facilities they deserve,” he said.
Criticism of Appeasement Politics
The Chief Minister also criticised political parties that continue to follow the path of appeasement, calling it harmful to national interest. He recalled how Dr Ambedkar had warned the country against such tendencies even during his lifetime.
He narrated an incident involving a senior Congress leader who refused to sing Vande Mataram and later expressed a desire to die in Jerusalem. Quoting Dr Ambedkar’s strong reaction to this, Yogi Adityanath said that individuals who do not honour India’s soil cannot think in the interest of its people.

Ambedkar’s Legacy as a Beacon of Social Justice
Yogi Adityanath highlighted Dr Ambedkar’s extraordinary journey from adversity to national leadership. “Baba Saheb worked tirelessly to uplift millions of deprived, Dalit and backward citizens. His life is an inspiration for all,” he said.
He also recalled Ambedkar’s emphasis on justice, equality and fraternity in the Preamble of the Constitution. The CM said that the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—such as housing for the poor, universal access to toilets, Ayushman Bharat, scholarships for SC/ST/OBC students, and connectivity in Dalit and tribal settlements—reflect the same constitutional spirit.
Strengthening the Vision of a Just Society
Yogi Adityanath said that the government is working to connect every Dalit, SC and ST settlement with proper infrastructure and facilities. He assured that any remaining gaps in connectivity or welfare coverage will soon be addressed.
“As we draw inspiration from Baba Saheb’s life and philosophy, the double-engine government is committed to strengthening the nation and upholding the dignity of the Constitution,” he declared.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Minister of State for Social Welfare Asim Arun, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharakwal, and senior office-bearers of the Ambedkar Mahasabha, including Dr Lalji Prasad Nirmal and Pramod Kumar.
