NEW DELHI – The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has exposed a major conspiracy linked to the terrorist organization ISIS. In a series of raids conducted on Tuesday, the NIA targeted 21 locations across five states and one Union Territory as part of its ongoing investigation.
The coordinated searches were carried out in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Jammu and Kashmir. During the operation, the agency seized numerous digital devices, mobile phones, and suspicious documents.
The investigation was launched following the arrest of an individual identified as Akhlathur alias Mohammad Akhlaq Mujahid, who is accused of being part of a plot to carry out terrorist activities in India.

The probe revealed that the accused was in contact with several terrorist organizations via social media. Evidence also suggests his links to terrorist groups in Pakistan and Syria. The conspiracy’s objective was to recruit individuals for proscribed organizations and to raise funds to wage ‘jihad’ against India.
This action follows similar raids conducted by the NIA on Monday, where 22 locations were searched across five states and Jammu and Kashmir. Nine of those locations were in J&K, where searches were conducted at the premises of suspects with connections to foreign terrorist networks. The recent raids were carried out with the cooperation of local police and CRPF. The NIA is also investigating the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people.
