Lucknow — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2025 at Avadh Shilpgram in Lucknow. The three-day festival aims to celebrate the diversity of mangoes grown across the state and promote their export potential. On the occasion, CM Yogi flagged off consignments of Uttar Pradesh mangoes destined for international markets including London and Dubai.
Following the flagging off ceremony, the Chief Minister released a commemorative souvenir and honoured progressive mango growers from across the state for their contributions to horticulture and exports.
Showcasing Over 800 Mango Varieties
The festival features a remarkable exhibition of over 800 varieties of mangoes, including famed names like Dussehri, Arunima, Ambalika, Zardalu, Gadadhar, and Raja Mithua. Visitors can also witness the exotic American Tommy Atkins variety, adding an international flavour to the lineup.
The lush mango displays reflect contributions from several Indian states, with participants from Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and others joining the event. Departments of Horticulture, progressive farmers, exporters, FPOs, self-help groups, pack houses, cooperatives, traders, researchers, scientists, nursery owners, and agri-machinery suppliers are all taking part in the mega celebration.
Festival Highlights at a Glance
- Mango orchards across 3.25 lakh hectares in UP produce 61.46 lakh metric tonnes annually.
- Uttar Pradesh contributes 27% of India’s total mango output.
- The festival brings together farmers, exporters, retailers, and traders under one roof.
- Competitions across 58 categories in seven divisions, with 2502 mango samples from 1341 participants.
- An additional 351 preserved mango-based items from 108 participants are also on display.
- Total of 2853 samples from 1449 participants are being showcased — a 7% increase from last year.
Public Engagement and Cultural Attractions
Open to the public daily from 11 am to 6 pm, the Mango Festival offers free entry and an immersive experience for all age groups. In addition to tasting fresh mangoes, visitors can buy processed mango products like pickles, juice, pulp-based sweets like rasgulla, jalebi, amavat, murabba, and more.

High-quality grafted mango saplings are also available for purchase, catering to gardening enthusiasts and orchardists. Thousands of different plant species have been arranged for sale.
The evenings will come alive with cultural programs and a mango-eating competition. A key highlight will be a poetic performance by renowned Hindi poet Dr. Kumar Vishwas on Saturday evening. The grand award ceremony will be held on July 6, recognizing the finest exhibits and participants across categories.
With its ambitious focus on exports, variety promotion, and farmer empowerment, the UP Mango Festival 2025 is not just a celebration of mangoes — it’s a strategic push to place Uttar Pradesh’s horticultural excellence on the global map.
