Mobile Snatchers Nabbed by Wazirganj Police, Mobile Phone and Bike Recovered

Lucknow : In a swift and effective response, the Wazirganj Police in Lucknow arrested two accused, including a minor, involved in a mobile phone snatching incident that occurred earlier today near Tedi Kothi.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, Sudhir Kumar, a resident of House No. 5, Tedi Kothi, Wazirganj, an unidentified person on a motorcycle snatched his mobile phone. Based on the FIR registered under Crime No. 164/2025, sections 304 IPC and relevant provisions of the MV Act, the police launched an investigation.

Acting on a tip-off and after thorough surveillance, the police arrested the two accused near Shaheed Smarak Park at around 7:24 AM. They have been identified as:

  1. Mohd. Saif, son of Babu Khan, resident of near Lal Masjid, Haiderzada Majra Road, Golaganj, Wazirganj, Lucknow, aged about 21 years.

  2. A 15-year-old juvenile, identified as Afzal, son of Mubeen, resident of Chakmadi, Golaganj, Wazirganj, Lucknow.

During the arrest, the police recovered the snatched Vivo mobile phone (IMEI No. 864179063131624) and a Hero Splendor motorcycle (Registration No. UP32EL6113), which was used in the crime. Legal proceedings under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicle Act have also been initiated for the seized vehicle.

The arrest was made by a dedicated police team from Wazirganj Police Station, including:

  • Station Officer Rajesh Kumar Tripathi

  • Sub-Inspectors Sudhmat Kumar Das and Ashwani Kumar Prajapati

  • Head Constable Subhash Chandra Verma

  • Constables Anshul Kumar and Ramanresh

The arrested individuals are currently under legal custody, and further investigation is underway to ascertain if they are linked to other similar incidents in the area.
