“React Forcefully”: Israeli Defense Minister Orders Military Action After Iran Violates Ceasefire

Tel Aviv: Just hours after a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iran was set into motion, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz accused Tehran of violating the agreement and ordered the military to resume offensive operations against Iranian military and paramilitary targets.

“Iran has completely violated the truce by launching missiles into Israeli airspace after the ceasefire was supposed to take effect,” Katz said in a statement. “I have instructed the IDF to resume targeted strikes against Iranian government and Revolutionary Guard positions.”

The renewed escalation comes less than three hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “complete and total ceasefire” between the two nations. Trump’s ceasefire plan was reportedly agreed upon by both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior Iranian officials during backchannel diplomacy led by Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Despite Israel’s claims, Iranian state media denied any missile launches following the ceasefire announcement. A report quoting Iran’s military general staff—comprising both the regular armed forces and the Revolutionary Guard—claimed Tehran had not violated the terms of the truce.

Still, the Israeli military detected multiple incoming threats early Tuesday, prompting air raid sirens in northern Israel. The IDF’s Home Front Command briefly advised civilians in the north to remain in bomb shelters until further notice.

Earlier, Netanyahu had reiterated that Israel had achieved its strategic goals, including neutralizing Iran’s nuclear threat, and had only agreed to the ceasefire upon President Trump’s request. “Any breach of the ceasefire will be met with a harsh response,” Netanyahu’s office warned.

President Trump, addressing the media on his social platform Truth Social, noted that the ceasefire had a phased timeline. “Iran will start the ceasefire, and upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the ceasefire. Upon the 24th Hour, an official end to the 12-Day War,” he said. He also warned of potential “last-minute blows” between both nations before the truce is fully stabilized.

As of now, the future of the ceasefire hangs in the balance, with tensions threatening to reignite across the region.
