Lucknow— The political atmosphere has once again heated up after Congress leader Supriya Shrinate launched a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its top functionaries, accusing them of compromising national interests during crucial moments in history. Her remarks were particularly pointed at BJP’s IT Cell head Amit Malviya and other senior leaders.
Shrinate stirred controversy by stating, “The real fault lies in your DNA,” addressing the BJP and its ideological lineage. She accused the party’s top leaders of consistently taking a compromising stand during key historical junctures, alleging that their record contradicts the nationalist image they project.
Revisiting History: Congress vs BJP
The Congress spokesperson cited several controversial historical instances:
-
Vinayak Damodar Savarkar wrote mercy petitions to the British while imprisoned during the freedom struggle.
-
Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (precursor to BJP), allegedly collaborated with the British during the Quit India Movement.
-
Veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani paid tribute at Jinnah’s mausoleum during a visit to Pakistan, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee undertook a goodwill trip to Lahore.
These examples, she said, contradict BJP’s frequent portrayal of Congress as “soft on nationalism.”

Targeting Prime Minister Modi
Shrinate didn’t spare Prime Minister Narendra Modi either. She criticized his surprise visit to Pakistan to meet then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on his birthday, called out the invitation extended to Pakistan’s ISI after the Pathankot terror attack, and slammed the ceasefire decision taken during border skirmishes under alleged American pressure.
She also raised concerns over External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, accusing him of having once revealed sensitive military-related information—an allegation likely to spark further controversy.
“BJP’s Real Fight is with the Opposition, Not Pakistan”
Taking a dig at the ruling party’s political priorities, Shrinate claimed that BJP’s true battle isn’t with Pakistan, but with India’s opposition parties. She added that the attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, remains unresolved, highlighting the government’s failure to bring the perpetrators to justice.
In her statement, she accused BJP leaders and supporters of confining themselves to “Twitter politics” instead of focusing on real national security and governance. She alleged that while the BJP is quick to attack opposition voices on social media, it fails to address core issues of national importance with the same urgency.
Political Ripples Likely
This explosive rhetoric from Congress is likely to escalate political tensions ahead of upcoming state elections and possibly the 2026 general elections. Whether the BJP chooses to formally respond remains to be seen, but the remarks have already gone viral on social media, igniting debates across political lines.
As the country inches closer to a charged electoral atmosphere, expect more such fiery exchanges in the weeks to come.
