Mumbai: In a significant moment for international cricket diplomacy, Jay Shah, Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), met His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, during the royal’s visit to India.
As part of the engagement, Mr. Shah introduced the Indian National Cricket Team stars — Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav — to the Crown Prince. The meeting marks a deepening of ties between the Indian cricket fraternity and the United Arab Emirates, a nation that has emerged as a key host and promoter of global cricket events in recent years.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Shah said:

“Delighted to help connect cricket with visionary leadership in Mumbai where it was a true honour to meet His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum with cricket icons Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav. At the ICC, we remain steadfast in our commitment to elevate cricket globally and to forge partnerships that resonate with diverse audiences. Moments like these remind us of our shared passion and the uniting influence of cricket worldwide.”
The meeting is expected to open up further avenues for cricketing collaboration between India and the UAE, including tournaments, talent exchange, and youth development programs. It also reflects the growing role of cricket as a bridge between cultures and leadership across nations.
