Prison Minister reviews  further strengthening of prison security

Lucknow: A review meeting was organized at the Prison Headquarters  under the chairmanship of the State Prison Minister Dara Singh Chauhan, in which measures to further strengthen the security system of the state’s prisons were discussed in detail. In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on giving priority to effective monitoring of CCTV cameras and the use of modern security techniques in prisons.

In the meeting, there was an in-depth discussion on the plan to purchase new HCBS jammers and other state-of-the-art security equipment under this year’s budget, so that complete control over mobile phones and other illegal activities in prisons can be ensured. Along with this, food management, meeting arrangements and PCO services were properly reviewed for the care of the prisoners. So that the daily needs of the prisoners are to be better met and their lives are made more well-organized.

During the meeting, Prison Minister Dara Singh Chauhan expressed his commitment to take concrete steps towards prison reform and seriously deliberated upon the concept of open prison. He said that keeping in view the reformation and rehabilitation of prisoners, implementation of schemes like open prison can be helpful in bringing them back to the mainstream of society.

In the meeting, various issues related to prison reform were discussed in detail in the presence of Principal Secretary Prison Anil Garg, Director General of Police Prison P V Ramasastri, Additional Inspector General Dharmendra Singh, Deputy Inspector General and other senior officers.
