Special cattle catching campaign started in the state

Destitute and helpless cows should be caught sensitively and kept in Kanha Gaushala / Gau-Ashray Sthal, arrangements for their maintenance and protection should be ensured

Special campaign will run in all the bodies till October 10

If destitute animals are seen roaming in the open, strict action will be taken: Principal Secretary

Lucknow: A three-day special cattle catching campaign is being run in the urban bodies of the state from October 08 to October 10. Principal Secretary Urban Development  Amrit Abhijat, while giving instructions to all the bodies, said that during the campaign, destitute and helpless cows should be caught sensitively and kept in Kanha Gaushala / Gau-Ashray Sthal, arrangements for their maintenance and protection should be ensured. After the campaign, if destitute animals are seen roaming in any body, strict action will be taken against the concerned officer.

Principal Secretary Amrit Abhijat issued instructions to all the Municipal Commissioners, Executive Officers (Nagar Palika Parishad / Nagar Panchayat), all the Divisional Program Managers and District Program Managers of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) of the state and said that it has come to the notice of the Government and the Directorate that even now destitute animals are seen roaming in public places in many bodies. In view of cleanliness, road safety and traffic etc., special campaigns should be run in all the bodies from 08 October to 10 October and the destitute and helpless cattle roaming on public places / roads in urban areas should be sensitively caught and kept in Kanha Gaushala / Gau-Ashray Sthals and arrangements for their maintenance and protection should be ensured. Also, the bodies should compulsorily provide the details of the number of destitute animals protected during the special campaign on the prescribed format issued by the Information Directorate.

The Principal Secretary has also directed to personally inspect all the pandals and program venues / areas in view of Durga Puja in the municipal areas with a view to cleanliness, hygiene, pure drinking water etc. and complete all the required action on time, update the information regarding the capture of stray animals during the special campaign on the proforma and Google link every hour and do continuous monitoring. He said that after the campaign, if stray and helpless animals are found roaming in any municipal area, then the department will take strict action against the concerned officer.
