Lucknow: 30 gold smugglers detained by the Customs Department at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport are reported to have absconded under suspicious circumstances. In this matter, the Custom Department informed the Lucknow Commissionerate and registered a case at Sarojini Nagar police station.
Thirty smugglers caught during checking
According to initial information, a flight from Sharjah had landed at Lucknow airport late on Tuesday evening. The Customs Department had caught thirty passengers smuggling gold during checking. If sources are to be believed, gold and cash worth about Rs 4 crore were found with these passengers. These smugglers were kept under tight security but now news is coming that all the smugglers have absconded under suspicious circumstances. Lucknow Airport Gold smuggler had reached Lucknow from Sharjah when the Customs Department got a big success during checking.
Case registered in Sarojini Nagar police station
It is noteworthy that there was tight deployment of Central Security Force inside the airport premises and the Lucknow Airport Gold smuggler was kept under their surveillance. There has been no statement yet from DRI or Custom Department regarding the escape of smugglers. However, a case has been registered in this matter at Sarojini Nagar police station. A police officer says that an application has been given by the Airport Authority, on the basis of which the police has come forward.
