UP Weather Update: Light Rain and Cold Winds Expected; Temperature Likely to Drop

(Lucknow): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain across Uttar Pradesh, with a drop in temperatures due to cold winds. Areas like Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Kanpur, and surrounding districts are expected to experience light showers in the morning, followed by sunshine in the afternoon. Cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Gonda, Balrampur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Gajipur, Mathura, Agra, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Fatehpur, Banda, and Bareilly will likely experience foggy conditions with strong winds.

The weather change began after February 2, with a new western disturbance becoming active, which was expected to influence the weather. This disturbance has been affecting the western Himalayan regions since January 29 and will continue to impact many parts of western Uttar Pradesh, bringing light rain.

On Monday, many cities in Uttar Pradesh experienced light showers and a noticeable drop in temperature due to cold winds. The forecast for Tuesday includes cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain, though sunshine is expected by Wednesday afternoon.

In Agra, the day started with light clouds, followed by sunshine. The maximum temperature reached 27.2°C, while the minimum was 11.4°C. The maximum was 3°C higher than normal, while the minimum was 1.8°C above the usual average. On Sunday, the maximum temperature had been 26.3°C, with a minimum of 12.8°C.

The weather will remain cloudy on Monday and Tuesday, with intermittent light rain in some areas. Additionally, strong winds will contribute to the chill, especially during the day. According to the Meteorological Department, Meerut will also see light rain and sunshine, with humidity predicted at 83%.
