Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has intensified efforts to ensure the speedy disposal of pending cases in revenue courts, with special emphasis on reducing the backlog of old cases and providing time-bound justice to citizens.
Regular monitoring at the government level and special disposal drives have significantly increased the pace of resolution of revenue-related disputes across the state.
39,645 Cases Under Section 24 Disposed of
Under Section 24, which deals primarily with demarcation and measurement-related matters, 28,556 cases were pending as of December 31, 2025. Between January 1 and July 31, 2026, a total of 91,472 new cases were registered, of which 39,645 were disposed of.
At present, 80,383 cases remain pending under the provision. Notably, only 24 cases have been pending for more than five years. Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Lucknow, Amethi and Mathura are among the districts reporting the highest number of pending Section 24 cases.
Over 10.96 Lakh Section 34 Cases Resolved
Significant progress has also been recorded in cases related to mutation and entry of land records under Section 34. While 48,910 cases were pending at the end of December 2025, 14,70,133 cases were taken up between January 1 and July 31, 2026. Of these, 10,96,814 cases were disposed of.
A special campaign was also conducted from June 15 to 25 to resolve mutation cases pending for more than 45 days. During the campaign, 2,21,667 cases were settled, providing relief to a large number of applicants awaiting changes in land records.
Section 80 Cases Also See Faster Disposal
Cases concerning change of land use under Section 80 have also witnessed accelerated disposal. Between January 1 and July 31, 2026, 28,797 new cases were registered, while 49,855 cases were disposed of.
The number of cases pending for more than five years under this provision has been reported as zero, reflecting the government’s emphasis on clearing long-standing revenue matters.
Focus on Old Cases and Transparent Revenue Administration
The state government has been placing particular emphasis on the early disposal of old and pending revenue cases through special campaigns, regular reviews and technology-enabled monitoring.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the burden of pending cases, ensuring timely justice and making revenue administration more transparent, accessible and citizen-friendly. The government is also seeking to strengthen monitoring mechanisms so that revenue disputes are resolved within stipulated timelines and citizens do not have to face prolonged delays in matters concerning land records and property.
