Gonda: The Transport Department conducted an extensive inspection drive against school vehicles across the Devipatan region to ensure the safe and hassle-free transportation of students. The campaign was led by the Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC), Lucknow, in coordination with RTO-A, RTO-E of the Devipatan region and the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Gonda.
During the joint operation, officials thoroughly checked the fitness and technical condition of school vehicles. Police-verified character certificates of drivers were also examined, along with mandatory documents and prescribed safety equipment.
The inspection focused on ensuring that vehicles transporting schoolchildren met all statutory safety and fitness requirements and that no technically unsafe or non-compliant vehicle was allowed to operate.
As part of the enforcement action, nine school vehicles found unfit were seized and parked at the RTO Campus Yard in Gonda, while seven other school vehicles were issued challans for violations.
Transport officials made it clear that no compromise would be made with the safety of students. Strict action will continue against school vehicles found violating prescribed standards.
School vehicle operators and school managements were directed to keep vehicle fitness certificates, safety equipment and other mandatory documents updated. Officials also stressed the need for proper verification of drivers and compliance with eligibility requirements.
The department has instructed that fitness inspections of all nine seized school vehicles be conducted on the same day. School authorities and vehicle operators were also urged to ensure timely fitness certification and strict compliance with all prescribed safety norms.
The Transport Department said regular inspections and enforcement drives would continue in the future to ensure that only safe, fit and compliant school vehicles operate on the roads and that the safety of students remains the top priority.
