Tata Power Launches ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ Campaign from Lucknow, Targets 3 Lakh Rooftop Installations in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: In a major push towards accelerating clean energy adoption in Uttar Pradesh, Tata Power subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) on Friday launched its flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign in Lucknow along with the unveiling of Tata Power Battery Storage, an integrated Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS).

The initiative was launched in the presence of Praveer Sinha and Sanjay Banga. The campaign aims to accelerate rooftop solar adoption across urban, semi-urban and rural areas of Uttar Pradesh while enabling households and communities to access reliable, affordable and clean energy round the clock.

Target of 3 Lakh Rooftop Solar Installations

With Uttar Pradesh emerging as one of India’s fastest-growing rooftop solar markets under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Tata Power Solar Rooftop has announced an ambitious target of installing 3 lakh rooftop solar systems across the state over the next three years.

The company aims to achieve a cumulative rooftop solar capacity of 1,000 MWp, strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s position as a leading solar-energy state.

Attractive Subsidies to Drive Adoption

Officials highlighted that Uttar Pradesh currently offers one of the country’s most attractive rooftop solar subsidy structures. Through a combination of central and state government incentives, consumers installing systems up to 3 kW can receive subsidies of up to ₹1.08 lakh, significantly reducing the cost of adoption.

The company said the integrated solar ecosystem will help consumers generate, store and use solar energy seamlessly while reducing electricity bills and dependence on conventional grid power.

‘Mera Gaon, Mera Solar’ to Focus on Rural Areas

As part of its broader clean-energy strategy, Tata Power is also expanding its “Mera Gaon, Mera Solar” initiative to increase awareness and adoption of rooftop solar in semi-urban and rural communities.

To strengthen outreach in remote areas, TPREL has signed an MoU with Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank, enabling easier access to rooftop solar solutions for rural households.

The company has also proposed a community incentive programme under which villages achieving solarisation of every 100 homes will become eligible for selected Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) benefits. The initiative aims to encourage community participation and support self-reliance through clean energy.

Special Financing Schemes for Consumers

To make solar installations more affordable, Tata Power has introduced a special financing scheme in partnership with a financial institution. Key features include:

  • Zero down payment
  • Instant digital approvals
  • Affordable EMI options
  • Quick loan disbursement

For customers opting for 1 kW and 2 kW rooftop systems under the “Mera Gaon, Mera Solar” programme, benefits include zero upfront investment, EMIs equivalent to monthly electricity bills, and solar insurance coverage for installations.

Launch of Battery Energy Storage Solutions

During the event, Tata Power unveiled its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) portfolio under the Tata Power Battery Storage brand.

The portfolio includes advanced storage solutions ranging from 5 kWh to 50 MWh, catering to both residential and commercial consumers.

For households, the company introduced battery storage systems with capacities ranging from 5 kWh to 40 kWh, designed to improve energy reliability, provide backup support and enhance energy independence for rooftop solar users.

For commercial and industrial customers, the company launched the PowerHub range of scalable storage solutions, including:

  • PowerHub Core: 60 kWh to 600 kWh
  • PowerHub Pro AC Plug & Play: 261 kWh
  • PowerHub Pro DC Configurable: 261 kWh to 2.5 MWh
  • PowerHub Max: 3 MWh to 5 MWh

These solutions are designed to improve energy management, operational efficiency and integration of renewable energy sources for businesses and industries.

Strong Presence in Uttar Pradesh

Addressing the launch event, Praveer Sinha said Uttar Pradesh has emerged as one of the fastest-growing rooftop solar markets in the country, supported by favourable policies and increasing consumer demand for clean energy.

He said the company plans to make rooftop solar more accessible through the integration of battery storage, easy financing and end-to-end energy solutions.

Tata Power Solar Rooftop has already installed 77,068 rooftop solar systems across Uttar Pradesh, achieving a cumulative capacity of 375 MWp. In Lucknow alone, the company completed 18,743 installations during FY 2024-25 and FY 2025-26.

According to the company, these installations help reduce more than 4.5 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to planting over 18.7 million trees every year.

The company has also expanded its electric mobility infrastructure, establishing more than 390 EV charging points across Uttar Pradesh, including over 45 charging stations in Lucknow.

Industry representatives, channel partners, retailers, policymakers, consumers and local stakeholders attended the launch event, underscoring growing momentum behind the transition to clean and sustainable energy solutions in the state.
