Bareilly: Senior Indian Administrative Service officer Shambhu Kumar, a 2010-batch IAS officer, has assumed charge as the new Divisional Commissioner of Bareilly following an order issued by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Kumar took charge late on Wednesday night. After assuming office, he was welcomed by administrative officials.
Prior to his new posting, Kumar was serving as the Managing Director of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited. He has also held several important administrative positions at the state government level as well as in various districts during his career.
Speaking after taking charge, Commissioner Shambhu Kumar said ensuring transparent delivery of government welfare schemes to the last person in society would be his top priority.

He also emphasised that maintaining law and order would remain a key focus, with a zero-tolerance approach towards activities that threaten peace and public order.
