Bareilly: Students of the University Cultural Centre of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, secured the rolling trophy for the second consecutive year at the senior category debate competition organised by Shri Ram Murti Smarak Trust, Bareilly.
The debate was held on the topic “Cyber War: The New Weapon of Future Conflicts.” University students delivered strong performances in both the for and against categories. Abhay Singh secured first position in the affirmative category, while Lavi Singh finished third in the opposition category. Based on the overall performance across groups and categories, the university was honoured with both the award and the rolling trophy.

The achievement follows the university’s debut in the competition in 2025, when its students secured third place in the affirmative category and second place in the opposition category, winning the rolling trophy for the first time.
Congratulating the students, Vice-Chancellor Professor Anil Kumar Rai said debate competitions help develop logical thinking, communication skills, subject knowledge and confidence. He attributed the consecutive victories to the students’ hard work, talent and preparation, while appreciating the Cultural Centre’s continued training and guidance.
Rai also emphasised the importance of providing students opportunities in cultural, literary and intellectual activities alongside academics for their overall development.

University Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey said winning the rolling trophy in both 2025 and 2026 reflected the students’ consistent efforts, practice and guidance received through the Cultural Centre. She said the centre aims to develop students’ oratory, reasoning, leadership skills and understanding of contemporary issues.
Registrar Mahendra Kumar, Finance Officer Mahima Chand, Controller of Examinations Anil Kumar Yadav, Professor Amit Kumar Singh, Professor Vinay Verma, Gaurav Mishra, Tapan Verma and other university faculty members, officials and students congratulated the winners.
