Lucknow: After the immense success of the first season, the second edition of the UP T20 League has started with a bang. On the night of August 25, the opening match was played between the winner of the first season, Kashi Rudras, and the second finalist Meerut Mavericks. Taking revenge for the defeat in the last final, Meerut Mavericks defeated Rudras by seven wickets. The innings of left-handed explosive batsman Rinku Singh may not have been great, but while performing the responsibility of the captain, he gave his team victory by hitting a six and won the hearts of the fans.
Chikara’s stormy start, Rinku Singh’s finish
Meerut Mavericks, captained by Rinku Singh, batted first in the match on the basis of lethal bowling and were all out for just 100 runs in 19.2 overs. Yash Garg, who took three wickets from Meerut, was the most successful bowler. Rinku’s Meerut Mavericks did not face much difficulty in achieving the easy target of 101 runs and won the match in just nine overs. Swastik Chikara hit 66 runs in just 26 balls with 6 sixes.
Rinku Singh batted at a strike rate of 350
Swastik Chikara, who was chosen as the Super Striker of the Match, may have batted stormily at a strike rate of 253.85, but Rinku Singh’s charisma was no less than anyone else. He scored an unbeaten seven runs in just two balls, which also included a winning six. In this way his strike rate became 350.
Six teams are participating
A total of six teams are participating in the UP T20 League, which includes Gorakhpur Lions, Kanpur Superstars, Kashi Rudras, Noida Kings, Lucknow Falcons and Meerut Mavericks. Each team will play the other five teams twice during the round-robin phase of the tournament. After the league stage, there will be playoffs including Qualifier-1, Eliminator, Qualifier-2 and the final.
