Lucknow: The Khadi Mahotsav-2025, organized under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by the Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board, has achieved a significant milestone in its ongoing celebration of Khadi and village industries. The exhibition, currently being held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, has crossed ₹1 crore in sales, with total sales reaching over ₹1.04 crore as of today. The record-breaking sales have been particularly driven by the Makar Sankranti holiday, which saw a surge in shoppers.
Record Sales of Khadi Products
The exhibition has witnessed immense enthusiasm from visitors, particularly for woolen and cotton Khadi products. The Shri Gandhi Ashram stall from Barabanki saw the highest sales, with customers flocking to purchase Khadi fabric for the winter season. Additionally, the Gramodaya Sansthan stall from Sitapur saw a significant demand for pickles, jams, and herbal products, further contributing to the high sales. The exhibition also showcased a wide range of Khadi and silk garments, along with handicraft products, drawing large crowds to various stalls.
Excitement Among Entrepreneurs and Handicraftsmen
Entrepreneurs and artisans, who have traveled from various parts of Uttar Pradesh, are experiencing a wave of excitement, with positive energy flowing between the buyers and sellers. Many of the participants expressed their satisfaction with the sales and the support for their handmade, sustainable products. Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of the Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board, emphasized that Khadi is increasingly being seen as a status symbol and is making its way into modern fashion. The primary objective of the Khadi Mahotsav is to promote Khadi and other products from village industries, while also motivating the youth to pursue self-employment opportunities through these traditional crafts.

To further promote the charm of Khadi, a Khadi Fashion Show will be held on January 15, 2025, at Jupiter Hall in Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. The event will feature models showcasing stylish Khadi apparel, blending tradition with modern fashion sensibilities. The fashion show aims to attract a younger audience, inspiring them to embrace Khadi as a trendy, sustainable fabric that aligns with contemporary fashion trends.
