Singrauli: As part of the observance of ‘Environment Week’ ahead of World Environment Day 2026, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna company under the Government of India, organized an awareness workshop on “Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development” at its Jayant Project on Wednesday.
The workshop was aimed at creating awareness about environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and promoting the principles of sustainable development among various stakeholders. The initiative forms part of NCL’s ongoing efforts to foster environmental responsibility and community participation in conservation activities.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Jayant Project General Manager Deepak Saxena highlighted the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and outlined several measures being undertaken by NCL to ensure eco-friendly mining operations and balanced development.
Experts participating in the workshop delivered detailed presentations on critical issues such as climate change, air and water pollution control, green energy, biodiversity conservation, and environmental management practices in the mining sector.

The programme was attended by General Manager (Environment) Rakesh Kumar, Executive Engineer of the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB), Singrauli, Shivam Raman, along with senior officials and employees from NCL Headquarters and Jayant Project, representatives of CMPDIL Jayant, and a large number of school students who actively participated in the awareness session.
The workshop reinforced NCL’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable growth while encouraging greater public awareness on ecological conservation.
