NCL Celebrates Mine Safety Excellence at Annual Mine Safety Week-2025 Awards Ceremony

Singrauli: The prize distribution ceremony of the Annual Mine Safety Week-2025 was held at the Khadia Area of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). Organised by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Varanasi, the event focused on promoting safety awareness, strengthening workplace safety culture, and advancing the goal of zero accidents across coal mines in the Singrauli region.

Ujjwal Ta, Director General of Mines Safety, attended as the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Neeraj Kumar, Deputy Director General, DGMS (Northern Zone), Ghaziabad; B. Sairam, CMD, NCL; Manish Kumar, Director (Personnel); Ashutosh Dwivedi, Director (Technical); Ajay Kumar Jaiswal, Chief Vigilance Officer, NCL; Raghupati Peddireddy, DMS (Mining), Varanasi Region; K. Vijaykumar, DMS (Mechanical), Northern Zone; V. Behera, DMS (Electrical), Northern Zone; Sunil B. Yohannan, Sharma Ranjan, Anil Jain, and Anil Chaudhary, along with other DGMS officials.

The event was also attended by trade union representatives, JCC members, CMOAI office bearers, Safety Board members, General Managers, Heads of Departments, the CEO of Sasan Power, representatives from THDC, JP Power and APMDC, as well as the President and Vice-President of NCL’s Kriti Mahila Mandal.

A Safety Handbook was released before the administration of the safety pledge. Addressing the gathering, Ujjwal Ta praised NCL’s production achievements while emphasizing equal priority to safety, health, and employee welfare. He highlighted green mining, self-regulation, the Zero Harm objective, and the increasing participation of women in mining.

Neeraj Kumar stressed compliance with safety and welfare laws and highlighted the significance of the Occupational Safety and Health Code. B. Sairam underscored the need for stronger safety systems, advanced technologies, automation, innovation, and the transformation of vocational training centres into hubs of safety knowledge and skill development.

In the overall project-level competition, Khadia Project secured first place, Dudhichua Project second, and Reliance Project third in Group ‘A’. In Group ‘B’, Krishnashila Project stood first, followed by Jhingurda Project and Kakri Project.

Khadia Project won the Best Tableau Award for its ‘i-TPLC’ theme, while Nigahi Project and Block-B Project secured second and third positions, respectively. In the Best Stall category, Nigahi Project claimed first place and Khadia Project finished second.
