Lucknow: Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Navdeep Rinwa informed that with the announcement of the dates of Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India on March 16, 2024, the process of conducting free, fair, peaceful, fear-free, temptation-free, inclusive and safe voting is going on in the state.
Navdeep Rinwa said with the notification of election for 13 Lok Sabha constituencies and 136-Dadraul Assembly by-election-2024 in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha General Election-2024 on April 18, nomination papers were filed by a total of 220 candidates for the Lok Sabha constituencies.
On April 26, in the scrutiny of nomination papers, the nomination papers of 138 candidates were found valid and the nomination papers of 82 candidates were rejected. On the day of withdrawal of nomination on April 29, 08 candidates withdrew their names from the Lok Sabha constituencies of the fourth phase.
The Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that out of the nomination papers of 138 candidates found valid for 13 Lok Sabha seats of the fourth phase, 08 candidates withdrew their names on the day of withdrawal on April 29. In that:-
29-Independent candidate Nar Singh withdrew his candidature from Dhaurahra Lok Sabha seat. 31-Independent candidate Prafull Kumar Verma withdrew his candidature from Hardoi (SC) Lok Sabha seat. 32-Independent candidate Manoj Kumar Rajvanshi withdrew his candidature from Misrikh (SC) Lok Sabha seat. 40-Independent candidate Saubhagyawati Rajput withdrew her candidature from Farrukhabad Lok Sabha seat. 41-Independent candidate Dr. Mridula withdrew her candidature from Etawah Lok Sabha seat. 42-Independent candidate Neha Pathak from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat and Ram Baksh Singh from Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party withdrew their candidature. 44-Independent candidate Premshila withdrew her candidature from Akbarpur Lok Sabha seat. Nominations of 10 candidates were found valid for 136-Dadraul Assembly by-election-2024, in which no candidate withdrew his candidature. The fourth phase of voting will be held on May 13, 2024 (Monday). Counting of votes for all the constituencies of Uttar Pradesh will be done on June 04, 2024 (Tuesday).
