Bareilly: Research scholar Vishesh Kumar Gangwar from the Department of Applied Chemistry at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, successfully presented his final Ph.D. research submission before the university’s Directorate of Research on Monday.
His doctoral thesis, titled “Employment of Carbonic Nanomaterials in Epidermal Maintenance,” explores the development and application of carbon-based nanomaterials for skin health and regenerative biomedical applications.
The final presentation was evaluated by Prof Arvind Kumar Saxena, Director at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), who served as the external examiner. Prof Saxena commended the scientific quality, originality and practical relevance of the research while engaging the scholar in an extensive academic discussion on various aspects of the study.
The research was conducted under the guidance of Prof K.P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor of MJPRU, with Prof Sharad Kumar Pandey, Dean Academics, serving as co-supervisor.
The presentation was attended by Prof Nivedita Srivastava, Head of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Prof Alok Srivastava, Director of the Directorate of Research, Prof Naveen Kumar, Additional Director of the Directorate of Research, along with faculty members, researchers and students.

The study focused on the development of carbon-based nanomaterials derived from natural biological sources such as bamboo, turmeric and licorice. It included detailed physical and chemical characterisation of the materials and evaluated their compatibility with skin tissue and beneficial skin microorganisms.
According to the university, the research offers valuable insights into biocompatible nanomaterials and sustainable nanotechnology, with potential applications in dermatology, skin care and advanced biomedical research. The findings are expected to contribute to the development of innovative, eco-friendly materials for improving epidermal health while advancing research in sustainable nanotechnology.
