Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, in collaboration with the District Commandant Office, Bareilly, organised a large-scale tree plantation drive at the Botanical Garden of the Department of Plant Science to promote environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The plantation programme was inaugurated by Prof. Alok Srivastava, Director of the Directorate of Research at MJPRU, Rajmani Singh, District Commandant, Bareilly, and Dr. Vijay Kumar Singhal, who planted saplings alongside other participants.

As part of the initiative, nearly 2,000 saplings were provided to the university by the Forest Department and the Department of Horticulture. The saplings, comprising a variety of fruit-bearing trees, will be planted across the university campus to enhance its green cover and biodiversity.

More than 200 police personnel actively participated in the plantation campaign, joining university faculty members, students and staff in the environmental initiative. The participants reaffirmed the Uttar Pradesh Government’s message of “One Tree in the Name of Mother and One Tree in the Name of Mother Earth,” highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship and collective responsibility towards nature.

Faculty members, students and employees of the Department of Plant Science also took part in the programme, demonstrating the university’s commitment to ecological sustainability and community participation in environmental conservation.

The organisers said the plantation drive reflects the shared commitment of the university and the district administration to increasing green cover, promoting environmental awareness and contributing to a healthier ecosystem for future generations.
